Online Safety is of paramount importance at CMCSS and is mandated by the State of Tennessee.
Prior to allowing students to access the internet, it is imperative that students have been instruction on basic internet safety, procedures for handling "accidental" exposure to inappropriate material, and the student Acceptable Use Policy. The primary purpose is to protect our students and build safe practices that will help them stay safe when online in or outside of school.
*Note that allowing students free time on the computer to randomly surf the internet is never a good idea. All internet experiences should be monitored, purposeful and standards based.
There are several short Focus Videos that provide some very basic internet safety information for elementary students. The following topics can be accessed at CMCSS Internet Safety Focus Videos.
Includes: Links to websites with explanation of site, Slam Dunk Lesson, Interactive Games, Discussion Starters and much more.
In addition to the resources available from the heading link above, we suggest the following: The CMCSS subscription for BrainPop is ONLY for the middle schools in the district.
